The Cert II Construction course is commonly referred to as a ‘Pre-Apprenticeship’ course, because successful graduates often go on to secure an apprenticeship. The course gives students the opportunity to try out a few different trades before deciding on which trade they would like to focus on. At FCTA the courses focus on bricklaying, tiling, solid plastering, wall & ceiling lining (elective), concreting and basic scaffolding.

Pre-Apprenticeship graduates who secure an apprenticeship, are more likely to complete, compared to apprentices who have not. Employers actively seek out pre-apprenticeship graduates because they are ‘job ready’ with some existing experience.

This course is currently funded by Skills for All. To find out if you are eligible, visit http://www.skills.sa.gov.au/training-learning/check-your-eligibility
